Bio

We are Trading Twilight, an emo pop punk band from Western Pennsylvania. Influenced by such bands as Modern Baseball, The Wonder Years, Jack's Mannequin, and Say Anything, the band consists of vocalist/guitarist Tim Hawk, lead guitarist Josh Mihok, bassist/backing vocalist Libby Kline, drummer Josh White, and pianist Katie Hetz.

While the band was officially 'formed' in 2016, our roots date back as early as 2011, where one afternoon, Josh and Tim decided to try playing music together for the first time, once dubbed via recording titles as 'the cherry koolaid sessions'. After a day of playing music, covering artists such as Blink-182 and Panic! At The Disco, they sat down and decided to come up with a name, in case they ever decided to pursue being in a band together.

Well, two hours and one name-generator later, they officially decided on Trading Twilight.

Despite the promising start, they would go years afterward without picking up instruments or putting any thought toward being in a band, largely due to the stressors and uncertainty of post-high school life. It was in January 2016 when a difficult breakup brought the two back together, sparking again that curiosity about making music as they played and sang through their pain and strife.

Undeterred by just learning how to perform and play their instruments, they would go on to play at various open mics, festivals, and even headlined their own bar show their starting year.

Practicing and honing their sound over time, they eventually met vocalist/pianist Libby Kline in 2018 and became a three-piece, posting content online and playing shows with increasing regularity. They headlined the Slippery Rock Back To School Extravaganza in the summer and played a festival in Pittsburgh that winter, fundraising for Lupus with Aubrey Burchell.

In July of 2021, after reuniting from a brief hiatus, the band completed their first EP, 'About Time'. However, a lack of equipment, stylistic differences with their producer, and an emergency circumstance with their recently acquired drummer led to them stepping away from the studio mid-production. While Tim and Josh took it upon themselves to learn drums in the interim, they ended up in contact with ZK Productions (Mayday Parade, Cartel, All Time Low, The Ready Set, Set It Off) and agreed to record a full length album at their studio.

Finishing up what would become their debut album, 'Revitalization of the Human Soul', with producers who had been a part of many albums they'd cherished over the years, the band recruited drummer Josh White and bassist Maurice Hardy Jr. to fill out the roster and began playing regular shows in support of their release.

After half a year, Maurice Hardy Jr. stepped away to focus on his career and personal life, making room for Libby to explore playing the bass and Katie Hetz, who had been occasionally filling in for Libby on piano, to step into a more full-time role.

The band went through further restructuring during the summer of 2025, with Josh Mihok taking up the reigns of drums full time and Katie Hetz now dynamically incorporating bass into the band's shows via synthesizer.

Today, the band remains hard at work tightening their performance with their new roster, playing shows in support of their debut album, and steadily working on new material as part of their forthcoming second release.

REVITALIZATION OF THE HUMAN SOUL

'Revitalization of the Human Soul' is an emo rock coming-of-age concept album centered around one's struggles with isolation, codependency, loss, and failure, woven in part from our own experiences and the stories of those we've been close to. Loosely modeled after similar concept albums such as '...Is A Real Boy' by Say Anything, 'Everything In Transit' by Jack's Mannequin, and 'The Greatest Generation' by The Wonder Years, it's a story about the ups and downs of trying to grow as a person and attempting to finally grasp some form of self-acceptance and peace.

It's a love letter to all of the albums we've come to know and love and all the bands we've grown up listening to. It's genre spans emo, pop punk, indie, alternative, acoustic, power pop, and another genre we in the band only know as 'Trading Twilight'.
